The imposing Gibson Hall, constructed in 1894, is the oldest building on the Tulane University campus. It faces St. Charles Ave. and is one of the landmark buildings on the University’s attractive campus (many refer to Tulane’s campus as ’the most beautiful campus in Louisiana’).

Architects Benjamin Morgan Harrod and Paul Andry of the firm Harrod and Andry collaborated on the Richardsonian Romanesque style building. The revival style incorporates 11th and 12th century southern French, Spanish, and Italian Romanesque characteristics.

The building was named for Randall Lee Gibson, an alumnus of the school. Gibson was the first President of the Board of Administrators.
