Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970, the Napoleon House is one of the city's finest examples of French-influenced architecture. This 3-story, brick and stuccoed building is known for its dormered hip roof and cupola. Shallow ironwork balconies with austere styling adorn the second floor.
Renowned for its refreshing Pimm’s Cup cocktail, warm muffuletta sandwich, and “dishy” history as a proffered refuge for the embattled and exiled ex-Emperor of France, the century-old Napoleon House is a French Quarter icon exuding the patina, charm, and authenticity of living history.
Owned and operated by the Impastato family since 1914 and Ralph Brennan since May 2015, Napoleon House is a historical adventure. Listen to Beethoven's Eroiqua, which he composed for Napoleon, and the music of other classical masters. This 200-year old landmark was recently awarded 2019 "Timeless American" award by Tales of the Cocktail for being a pillar in the community and having provided a benchmark for the industry.
