The Court of the Two Sisters (613 Rue Royale) was built as a private residence. In 1886, Emma Camors & Bertha Angaud named it The Shop of the Two Sisters. The ladies sold Mardi Gras ballgowns, masks, (et. al.) imported from France.
Its courtyard gained some infamy because of stories from the past. One story recounted that Marie Laveau practiced voodoo by the well in the courtyard. Another story said that Jean Lafitte dueled and killed three men in one night under a tree located in the courtyard.
In 1963, Joel Fein leased the property and created the Court of the Two Sisters restaurant, the name we know today.
