French-Canadian explorer Sieur Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville reached a location close to what is now Mobile, Al, and called it Point du Mardi Gras.  Sieur d"Iberville threw a party to commemorate the occasion, which became the Mardi Gras celebration.

In 1892, the New Orleans Rex parade theme "Symbolism of Colors" gave meaning to the Mardi Gras colors: Purple represents justice. green represents faith, and gold represents power.

New Orleans' Mardi Gras has become famous worldwide for its celebration. This NOLA home personifies Mardis Gras with its colors, decorations, and spirit.
