The Olde Pink House Savannah

James Habersham Jr., a successful merchant, began the construction of his elaborate mansion In 1771. After completion of his home, Habersham experienced a rather unusual setback--the red color of the brick started to bleed through the white plaster. His solution: paint it white, and paint, and paint. The red continued to bleed through. It wasn't until the 1920s when a woman opened a tea shop and decided to stop fighting it; she painted it pink. Problem solved. Result: The Olde Pink House.
